ADSM

Branding and brochure design

ADSM, a leading utility management company for water and energy efficiency, engaged us to evolve their brand.

The first objective was to develop their existing company logo. This would then set the style for all future communications. We provided ADSM with a number of concepts. The chosen concept was then developed and applied across various media. Working closely with ADSM meant fast iterations of ideas and high visibility of our progress and direction. We designed the ADSM logo to reflect the core of their business – water, environment and energy – by use of colour.

Key to the ADSM brand was to create a logo for one of their services Aquafund, a grant designed to enable organisations to make financial and water savings. This was created in conjunction with the ADSM logo and utilises the same font and coloursway.

As part of the company rebranding, and accompanying product rebrand, we worked on a brochure for one of their services too. This utilised the graphic suite we put together for the company, including colourways, photography, graphic devices and illustration styles. The brochure designs themselves had to work well for the corporate communications, but also be flexible enough to work for each of ADSM’s products.

Royal Borough Honey

WordPress eCommerce website

Brand creation, website design and packaging.

Royal Borough Honey is a new brand, offering locally produced honey. They’re passionate about honey quality and taste.

Partnering with start-ups is always incredibly rewarding, watching a brand grow over time and develop into a leader of its industry, in part because we know we’ve played our part in their success.

Almost a year later we still have a great relationship with the company and regularly work together to improve the websites offering to users and support with graphic elements when requested.

Although RBH were a start-up they were certain that they wanted to position themselves for growth and very intelligently chose Rare to implement a WooCommerce website enabling huge potential to scale rapidly.

The website

The RBH website is filled with all kinds of functionality and has everything you need to run a standard e-Commerce store.

WordPress was chosen to build the website because of its simplicity to integrate an online store (WooCommerce). A .csv upload plugin was added to enable RBH to upload new product information, prices and images quickly and easily.

The packaging

A key consideration of the packaging was the use of colour, to promote shelf presence and differentiate the flavours. We used a classic, formal type treatment for brand reinforcement. We were keen to drive the feeling of quality.

Mead Open Farm

Mead Open Farm

Brand development

Mead Open Farm’s position in the marketplace was reviewed and it was decided that a clearer and more distinctive visual identity was required.

The Mead Open Farm logo was developed, and full brand guidelines created, enabling staff to support implemention of the new brand in-house.

Initially, we designed an eye-catching set of characters (hand drawn) which were to become the basis for all communication. These characters were used to hold up entrance signage and also applied as a montage to create a border for advertising material. The result was a strong, consistent and easily recognisable brand.

As part of this project we created new look leaflets, advertisements, posters (including 48-sheet billboards) and signage. We have also created specific illustrations for Easter, Halloween and Christmas, and continue to support Mead Open Farm on an ongoing basis.

Rare Design works in partnership with Agility Marketing on all design work for Mead Open Farm.

The website

The new site is designed in a way that allows the personality of the brand to come through. Mead Open Farm is fun and colourful and so is the design of the new website. With the use of bold typography and images, the design system is solely focused on highlighting the upcoming events, the savings that can be made by booking online and the all weather play. Interactions and animations bring the site to life in a way that is easy to use.

When thinking about the homepage, we spent time considering where our users were coming from. Because a large portion of users were coming from blogs and social channels, we wanted to create an experience that promoted similar content to what pushed them to the site in the first place.

The home page (as well as the entire experience) is built using various components and layout modules that can be mixed and matched to tell seasonal stories, push new events, and highlight editorial content.

Leaflets and Direct Mail

We created a range of design solutions for this project, ranging from clever z-fold leaflets to cost effective postcards, ensuring the message was accessible to the largest audience possible.

Ibicus

Ibicus

Ibicus Ltd.

Re-Branding and website development

We worked closely with Ibicus to develop their company logo and freshen up their brand. It was important that the new logo could be applied across all media (print and on-line), and also that it could work equally well in full and single colour.

The Ibicus website encompasses a complex range of information and utilities, and our objective was to make the website more user-friendly for both the visitor and the administrator. The first challenge was to design a home page and navigation system that established a hierachy of information. This would ensure that a new visitor to the website would immediately be aware of the scope and extent of information available.

The website includes a shopping basket, search facility and Facebook feed. In addition there is a separate log-in for workshop leaders to update their own biographies and download useful documents. Web analytics has also been integrated to provide detailed tracking of website usage.

Responsive HTML5 Website

In the multi-device world we live in, Ibicus’s new website embraces the latest programming techniques allowing the website to adapt to different screen sizes.

Content Management:

The website was re-developed and programmed in PHP as the base platform. This was a fundamental choice for creating a powerful content management and eCommerce system. Our bespoke content management system enables the administrator complete flexibility to edit any part of the website through a password protected portal. Furthermore, a fully managed eCommerce system ensures secure payments and accounting records. Invoices and statements are automatically generated and can be managed by Ibicus.

The user experience

We spent a lot of time thinking through the design, the user interface and the user experience, asking ourselves questions like, “How would consumers distinguish between workshops?”, “How can we make the shopping experience more intuitive?” and “How can we bring Ibicus’s community of workshop leaders to the forefront?”
